I guess you must have seen this feature as just a feature mentioned for your phone. If not, do look out for it.Because this is one for the future kind of a thing! I have often seen people not using it and well, I had also not used it much until I found out about it recently. For starters, it is pretty much like the Bluetooth in your phones. You can say it is Bluetooth's side-kick (just as Robin to Batman). Only difference being this is a far more powerful tool.
So, you can say that in future this thing is gonna be your one for all solution! Yes, it is that useful! So, NFC..what could you make of it? It is not something related to Nokia....Oh! Right! It is Microsoft now,my bad. Okay, NFC stands for Near Field Communication. It might sound like some sort of communication technologies related to 4G,Wireless,etc. But, it is no way used for those purposes. So, if not communication(literally), what is it being used for? Before I go to answer that, let me tell you ask you one question, do you remember how did you feel about Bluetooth when it was introduced? I,frankly, did not expect much out of that little master and I was proved wrong within a year. All of a sudden I started hearing about innovative ideas where Bluetooth was being used and how it could literally prove to be a big step in transforming the way we see things around us. Okay, that was me and I think most of us would have had similar thoughts. But,hey! We can be wrong at times. NFC is the same kind of underdog waiting to be unleashed.
Give a moment now and think how would you use it if you got to do something with it! The best part is, it is probably in your smartphone and you might not be actually using this dynamite feature at all. Check the connectivity options in your Settings and you might be able to unravel the hidden potential of NFC. When I too was wondering ,just like you, as to what can I do with this NFC thing...I actually had got an idea. This might sound crazy, but it is actually possible to build it. So, imagine you have like 5 or 6 smartphones with NFC(probably borrowed from your friends) and each phone is a part of drum set. Getting the idea right? Next, I could use my smartphone as the drum stick and play my tune. There we go, my own drum set without having spent a penny! Cool, right?
So, guys this thing has a lot of potential. You could come up with lot of ideas too and probably start building upon it. Who knows , your name could be referenced to a really cool app! Well, then you know the mantra now, Tap and Share! ..Tap and Share..! And keep exploring!
P.S. IPhone is rumored to introduce NFC in its upcoming model. whilst, you already have that feature in your phone!
