How do Smartphone Manufacturers Fool you ?

If you are one of those people who waits eagerly for new flagship every year , this is going to be rather enlightening article altogether. Like most of you I used to keep tracking latest updates on the flagships being released in the near future and the leaks and rumors would help maintain the excitement. While all that is fun , there are few things that Smartphone manufacturers have been doing for the past couple of years that is just plain marketing strategy and hardly has merit. This is how they are deceiving us :

1. Highly Exaggerated Unnecessary Features :
2019 was a year of 64 MP cameras with its final quarter being about creating hype about the 108MP camera sensors. Has anyone thought of why is this feature even necessary ? Sure you get tons of pixels jam packed on a 6inch display but will you be really using it on daily basis ? There are so many videos that show the affect of these huge resolutions, if you observe they zoom in like 5-10x to see the difference made. In our day to day use, that's hardly the case.

2. Masking the Quality of Connectivity : 
The smartphone marketing strategy has shifted from making durable devices to promoting them as an all-in-one product. That's clever but when the product doesn't serve its primary objective it's simply unacceptable. The biggest flaw in the current generation of smartphones is that the Call Quality and Data Connectivity is utterly unsatisfactory. This flaw is simply masked by hyping up other features like Wireless Charging, Huge Display with High Refresh Rates, Excessive RAM storage,etc. which are all very good features but they are just merely add-ons! Hopefully "5G" addresses this "Basic" Issue.

3. Confusing the Consumer :
Smartphone manufacturers across the globe make multiple releases in a span of 2 months with hardly any difference in features. One model may have high RAM while other may high battery capacity and other may have a different processor altogether. Have you wondered why they don't just make one good phone with all features assembled ? That's because they want to take advantage of the confusion in the consumer's mind. They pitch one USP (Unique Selling Point) of a product to the extent that the consumer finds it worthwhile to spend the money just for that one feature.
