LG Flexes Its Dual Screen Prowess - LG WING IS HERE!

Now, who would have thought an year earlier that we would see such a form factor in smartphones ?! This form is unique and refreshing from the mundane designs we have been seeing for the last couple of years. This is different from the Folding phones that we have seen in the Samsung Galaxy Fold, Galaxy Z Fold 2 , Moto Razr and others with similar approach. The LG Wing was announced today through an online live Event ! Popular tech youtubers Austin Evans and Unbox Therapy host Lew Later were raked in for the launch event, just goes on to say how influential the youtube reviewers are or it could mean that LG wanted to play smart :P  So this is how the swivel design is going to look like

The Main screen is 6.8 inches PLED with no notches (finally!) and very thin bezels. The secondary screen which is behind the Main screen is 3.2 inches FOLED screen. There has been a lot of engineering that has been put in to this design. The mechanical engineering prowess clearly shows the amount of R&D that has been invested in it. With the auxiliary springs, double lock structure, ultra compact hydraulic damper and the chasis made up of composite material for light weightedness and steadiness, it's something what many may call as an "engineering marvel". LG claims it to have tested the swivel back and forth 200,000 times which means if you swivel it 100 times a day it will last you atleast 5 years. Now, the durability of such a design is always questioned and it will be the interesting thing to watch out and see. They claim to have tested it in drop tests, shock tests, water tests and dust tests. They even have got international certification. That only makes it an even bigger target to try it out and find scenarios where it could get damaged.

Coming to the hardware, powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G is a bit of a disappointment when most flagships pack the latest Snapdragon 865+. It's similar to how Moto Razr 2 packs the 765G in favor of the 865+ , possibly to reduce the cost of the phone. The next big highlight , the cameras! The rear cameras pack a triple module with 64MP primary and 2 ultra wide sensors with 12MP resolution - one of them used for Gimbal setup meaning for stabilization during video. The gimbal setup was first seen on vivo X50 Pro smartphone launched in 2020 again powered by the snapdragon 765G. The cameras look to be of superior quality with lot of modes/features especially the one with ASMR video shooting mode is a new one which is not seen so far any phone.

The LG Wing will support 5G ,4G 3G and 2G though it's not clear whether it will support the mmWave bandwidths which is the highest speed on 5G. Performance wise I think it will match with the mid premium budget phones and packs 8GB RAM with 128GB ROM (256GB in USA). I think most of the sail tasks with heavy gaming should sail through on this phone. If you're wondering if the dual screen display will soak up all the juice the phone packs a decent battery with 4000 Mah.

The pricing could be around USD 1000 and in India it could be around INR 55,000 -INR 60,000. The launch has happened today but pre order could start by end of the month ie September 30,2020.

Don't think about Buying Tablet in 2020! They are going to be Dead!

Remember the time when the "mobile" phones were not "smart" yet and had this really compact form factor with durability such that they can only be destroyed by some natural calamity ? Yep, those times were not far from today ..just a decade ago and we didn't have to think about the phone falling off a cliff, or catching fire or trampled under a car or drowned into a sea! Then there was this highly delicate and expensive loner phone called the "iPhone" which required such extreme care, for you wouldn't be able to afford its maintenance! This phone was one of the first ones to start a trend of increasing the display size over the year and that led to hilarious memes as below Being mocked by their competition only strengthened their move and Apple went onto release the iPhone 11 Pro Max or Max Pro (whatever!) which was 6.5 inch long and was close enough to the prediction in the memes. This time it wasn't getting mocked but was ...

How to Pair Huawei Watch GT2 with Any Headphones within 1 min - the Perfect Hack

The Smartwatch and wearables industry has seen the biggest spike in 2019-2020 time frame. Starting off with Apple Airpods to may other brands trying to mimic the design and provide low cost alternatives the users have graciously welcomed each and every product in the line. There is a fan base for the neckband type, another base for the "TWS" (Truly Wireless) Earbuds and there's altogether separate base for the Wireless Headphones category. Then we saw an upsurge in the health monitoring wearable devices which was popularized by Fitbit and then in the last couple of years by Apple and Xiaomi. The current market has many players and there's no clear winner in terms of market share for the smartwatches / health monitoring wearables. Huawei has somehow missed the train and joined in late for the party. But as they say in Hindi - " Der aaye Durust Aaye .. "  which means - Came in Later But in a mint condition .. Huawei launched its first smartwatch the...

Sony Xperia 1 II - the Lazarus of Smartphones

Well, well, well... Look who's back on the Street ! He's tall ..he's strong..he's Loaded ! That's exactly what the Xperia 1 II is all about ! Sony can well be termed as the "Lazarus"  for coming back from the dead - quite literally. It was standing against all the odds with likes of Samsung, Apple, One Plus in Premium and Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo, Huawei in the Mid Segments, Sony had no where to land and with this particular model they have reaffirmed their faith in their Premium segment and its definitely Working ! I know the naming is weird (seriously who names their product "one" "two" ) Check out their official Video: Credits : Sony Youtube Channel Credits : NDTV Mind you , this is the first smartphone with a 21:9 4K HDR OLED 6.5" Display with 90 Hz Refresh Rate - let that sink in.
