Realme has announced their new 7 series lineup and is available for order on flipkart exclusively. Today we are reviewing the Realme 7 Pro phone. The biggest feature on the 7 Pro is the 65W Superfast Dart Charging that's available on very few phones so far and could soon become a norm by the end of the year. It has a battery capacity of 4500 Mah which is pretty decent to last longer than a day on daily usage basis. The 65W charger claims to charge from 0 to 100% in 34 Minutes! That's actually super fast. Personally speaking, not a big fan of these "Super" Fast chargers which wear off the batteries quickly , but man is that quick!

Coming to the hardware, it is powered by a relatively older processor - Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G . The 720 G is pretty good but at this point of time, the Snapdragon 765G is doing the round in most mid premium , so atleast a 730G would have made more sense. Then again the pricing for the 7 Pro balances the performance to cost debate. Moving ahead, we have 6.4" AMOLED display compared to the 6.6" LCD display on the Realme 6 Pro released last earlier in the year. The refresh rate chosen for the 7 Pro is interestingly disappointing of 60Hz. I mean in 2020, 90Hz is the minimum and I don't understand the reason behind shipping out 60Hz phone in the price bracket of 20K INR when other smartphone products offer 90Hz and more. Though Realme states that it was based on user choice between 90Hz LCD and 60Hz AMOLED , they chose 60Hz AMOLED. The choice should have been 90Hz AMOLED vs 120Hz AMOLED. Somehow, I feel the Realme 7 Pro was intended to release close to the end of the first half of the year and the pandemic situation pushed it further. The Realme 7 on the other hand has 90 Hz LCD display which I would prefer any day over 60Hz panel.
Speaking of cameras, again Realme has made interesting choices. The camera setup on the back is latest 64MP Sony IMX 682 + 8MP Ultra Wide + 2MP Macro and that's it! They don't have a fourth camera in place of 2 MP depth sensor. They have dropped the 12MP Telephoto from the Realme 6 Pro in the 7 Pro. The 64MP camera is a good performer, but going in favor of the depth sensor and retaining the Macro lens is not a wise choice. Instead, a combo of 64MP+8MP Ultra Wide + 8MP Telephoto + 2 MP Macro would have been better choice. On the front, they have a single 32MP Selfie shooter which is not wide enough with f/2.5 aperture. The camera segment has been fairly disappointing and the 64MP Sony IMX sensor is the only positive thing in the setup.
The other features include the 3.5 mm headphone jack (thumbs for that) ,USB-C Port, NAVIC Support (Indian Satellite based Navigation) , dual frequency GPS support and has passed the TUV splash test and reliability tests (not sure if it really adds to the value :P). Out of the box, it comes with Android 10 and should continue to have updates until Android 12 .
Coming finally to the pricing, the 6GB/128GB model would cost Rs.19,999 and the 8GB/128GB model would cost Rs.21,999 on Flipakart and Realme websites. The sale would be starting from September 14th,2020, so mark the calendar if you found the Realme 7 Pro exciting! I personally would wait for the X series to launch :P
